Einführung

Vom 22. November 2008 bis 18. Januar 2009 zeigt der Württembergische Kunstverein das „Postcapital Archive (1989 – 2001)“ des spanischen Künstlers Daniel García Andújar. Das Projekt, das sich gleichermaßen als multimediale Installation, Bühnenraum, offene Datenbank und Werkstatt versteht, basiert auf einem digitalen Archiv mit über 250.000 Dateien (Texte, Audiodokumente, Videos etc.), die der Künstler in den letzten zehn Jahren aus dem Internet zusammengetragen hat. During the workshop period, forms of creative, critical, and subversive handlings of media and new technologies, in both theory and practice, shall be developed. The focus of the workshop thereby additionally lies in the specific information and archive situation of our society. The project furthermore offers an opportunity to examine strategies of “artist practice in the Postcapital Archive”—a new public space having long been influenced by new information and communications technologies. Daniel García Andújar entwickelte das Konzept eines zweigeteilten Raums. Im vorderen Bereich inszeniert er eine Messekoje, die in der gängigen Ästhetik und Sprache der IT-Monopolisten das auf GNU/Linux basierende Betriebssystem X-Devian bewirbt, einer freien Open-Source-Software, welche die ökonomischen Strategien der zitierten Soft- und Hardware-Giganten unterwandert. Im hinteren Teil stellt er diverse e-Projekte von Technologies To The People vor und zeichnete dabei jene urbanen und kulturpolitischen Konfliktfelder nach, die zu seinem ersten e-Projekt, e-valencia, geführt hatten. Für Andújar sind die Schaffung von Gegenöffentlichkeiten, die unzensierte, freie Artikulation sowie eine kollaborative Kunstund Wissensproduktion direkt mit der Aneignung neuer Technologien verbunden.
